1st attraction : Rizal Park
Rizal Park is also known as Luneta Park. It is a historical urban park located in the heart of the City of Manila, Philippines adjacent to the old "Walled City" now known as Intramuros. We didn't spend long hours here just half an hour to look around and took some photos.
Little facts about Lapu-Lapu Monument :
The monument was a gift from the people of Korea as appreciation and to honor the memory of freedom-loving Filipinos who helped during the Korean War in the early 1950s. Lapu-Lapu was a native Muslim chieftain in Mactan, Cebu and representative of the Sultan of Sulu, and is now known as the first native of the archipelago to resist Spanish colonization. He is retroactively regarded as the first national hero of the Philippines. On the morning of April 27, 1521, Lapu-Lapu and the men of Mactan, armed with spears and kampilan, faced Spanish soldiers led by Portuguese captain Ferdinand Magellan in what would later be known as the Battle of Mactan. Magellan and several of his men were killed.
Just near by the Rizal Park area you can see the "Museum of the Filipino People" is a department of the "National Museum of the Philippines" that houses the Anthropology and Archeology Divisions of the National Museum. The building that houses the "Museum of the Filipion People" formerly housed the "Department of Finance".
Before we move on to the 2nd attraction take a look of these unique public transportation of the Philippines. If you are here, you will see these a lot around the city in everywhere with its variety body designs and colors besides the "PADJAK". (refer to ma Philippines Trip : 1st day) post to view "Padjak" photo. By the way, they are called "JEEPNEY".
Intramuros is the oldest district in the present day city of Manila, the capital of the Republic of the Philippines. Nicknamed the "Walled City". Intramuros is the historic fortified city of Manila, the seat of the government during the Spanish colonial period and literally means "Within the Walls".
Intramuros is a huge area to explore and each landmark inside it has it story. The building's Architecture and designs around Intramuros area are so impressive. But i only managed to take a few as ma camera battery is out of order sialan!!!
REMEMBER!! "KALESA" tours (bukan tu kereta "Kelisa" arr!!) around Intramuros is a MUST!! Intramuros is a large area to cover on foot!! Trust me you will enjoy the ride. We did!!

( One of 4 Philippines churches constructed during the Spanish Colonial Period)
REMEMBER!! "KALESA" tours (bukan tu kereta "Kelisa" arr!!) around Intramuros is a MUST!! Intramuros is a large area to cover on foot!! Trust me you will enjoy the ride. We did!!
KALESA
If you must know, the Kalesa is basically a horse drawn carriage, it was introduced to the Philippines in the 18th Century by the Spanish. It was the upper classes mode of transport, only the nobles and officials could afford the luxury of the Kalesa back then.
So, below are the only photos i managed to snap from my camera to be shared with you during our Kalesa tours around Intramuros. After Intramuros tour i will try to borrow Google's photo to suit my next story-telling.
Us with the famous Presidents & Senator of Philippines
L-R (Ferdinand Marcos, Corazon C. Aquino & Benigno Aquino Jr.)
Haha last but not least, got the chance to peck the nose of the 14th President of Philippines Gloria Macapagal Arroyo. Looks like we have similar hair style don't we??
3rd attraction : Manila Chinese Cemetery
The Manila Chinese Cemetery is the 2nd oldest cemetery in Manila. Designated as the resting place of the Chinese citizens who were denied burial in Catholic Cemeteries during the Spanish colonial period.
You must be wondering what are the attraction these cemetery have? I asked the same question to myself before we reach there. When we arrived at the cemetery we not even realized that we are touring the cemetery until our guide start to elaborate story about the place. We thought its just a rich house belong to someone's rich. Like a rich people neighborhood.
It never fails you to WOWed each of the resting place you see around. The funny thing is you start to amaze them hahaha...some of them are like one big bungalow, some like a mansion with an impressive designs. Then only after further explanation i started to feel spooky knowing that there are spirits all around. Even i can feel their existence!! If only Gunaqz was there she's definitely seeing them. Luckily we only touring from inside the Van. Seeing is believing right??? check this out

All the resting place are well-maintained by the family/clan of the owner by hiring a caretaker to do the necessary cleaning and most of their resting place are locked-up. Oh ya i noticed ma bff si Flo have posted about this too so just hop over to her blog for more photos. Ok...ok...enough with the cemetery!!
4th attraction : Tayuman Religious Shop
Tayuman famous for its religious shop, selling the religious icon. The price are much more cheaper compare to selling price in Sabah. You can bargain good price and they are varieties and made so beautiful. Just imagine statue that half height of me, here in Sabah the price can reached a few hundreds of bucks even thousands of bucks. My mum bought a few religious stuffs here and one medium size statue.

5th attraction : Lechon Capital of the Philippines
"Lechon" is the Spanish name for pig, in the Philippines it means a spit-roasted pig. In Tagalog it called Litson is a roasted whole pig cooked in charcoal.
Lechon is prepared by stuffing the inside of the animal with herbs and vegetables then the pigs are slowly hand roasted on top of charcoal for hours till their skin turn reddish brown and the inside flesh becomes tender.
We had our lunch in one of the shop here and indulged ourselves with a plate of fresh juicy Lechon ate with hot steam rice and some other dishes and fuyohhhhhh MASARAP NA MAN!!!

1st shopping destination : Tutuban Mall
The Tutuban Mall offers "The Pinoy Shopping Experience" to every bargain hunters. It became a vibrant commercial center in an important historical landmark. It offers wide variety of merchandises that best value of money experience where you can enjoy big bargain and discounts for quality products.
We really enjoy ourselves shopping in Tutuban Mall. Who doesn't?? All you need is to polish your bargain skill to get what you want in a best price possible. Most of the time i won my best bargain of the things i wanted trus me Happy face Happy feet. We even help each other to bargain and when you got the price you want, what a bliss!!
Besides Tutuban Mall you too can experience of an open-air shopping. The place where street vendors take over the vehicular road network of the entire shopping complex to set up their store and sell their goodies. The busy vehicular road is closed from the early evening to midnight and transformed into a dynamic market with clusters bright-lit stalls.
We actually experienced it just for half an hour but can't handle it, too crowded so we decided to go back in the Mall.

2nd Shopping Destination : SM Mall of Asia
SM Mall of Asia more than just a mall, it is a tourist destination that has raised the standard of shopping, leisure and entertainment in the Philippines. The biggest and the brightest Mall!!
A little fact about MOA :
Almost four hectares of floor area. 8,000 parking slots. 5,000 square meters allotted for public utility vehicles. 100 slots for tourist buses. Almost one kilometer in length, and a perimeter of almost 2 kilometers. Close to 2 million bags of cement used to build it and 44,000 gallons of paint consumed. It also has 1.9 million floor tiles installed in it. One wonders if this scale of development was for an airport terminal, a seaport, or an industrial complex.
Interestingly, however, these facts speak about the Philippines’ largest and world’s third largest mall, the 407,000 square-meter SM Mall of Asia.
Interestingly, however, these facts speak about the Philippines’ largest and world’s third largest mall, the 407,000 square-meter SM Mall of Asia.
We are so lucky to be able to witness the tremendously beautiful panoramic night view out of MOA's building where the x'mas mood are so alive here with a dropped jaw x'mas decorations plus the fireworks show and parade things going on there. It's so amazing!!
While inside the MOA are so wide to explore!! Impossible to finish those 3 buildings of MOA in one night. No way!! furthermore our pick-up time is at 10pm and we are too tired. We didn't do any major shopping here as their things are way too expensive and no bargain skill works here. All we do was just sight-seeing and have dinner at their crowded food court and a little shopping at the SM Market that's it!!
On our way out to the pick-up point, we almost lost our way out from the MOA building. Thank god we finally made it itu pun after so much asking the information counter for proper directions hahaha...what an experienced!!
Well, i guess that's all on our 2nd day tour. I hope you guys enjoy reading it.
Till to ma Philippines Trip : 3rd day (27 Nov 2011) post : )
